DePriest Wins Fifth World Series Spot PDC / Bull’s-Eye News Official Event Report March 05, 2006
Almost 200 players entered the Chicago Qualifier for the World Series of Darts, with Michigan's Dave DePriest winning a place at the Mohegan Sun Casino in May.
The fifth of 12 qualifiers took place on Sunday, with DePriest winning 4-2 in the final against Joe Slivan.
He now has the chance to win $1 million in the World Series of Darts, which takes place in Connecticut from 19-21 May.
"It's the best thing that has ever been brought to darts," said DePriest, who won through from 197 entrants in Chicago.
"I never practice, but since this event was announced, I've been practicing 3-4 hours a day for nearly three months.
"I had a tough road to go. I had to play Lane Helgason, Randy VanDerson - Randy had me down 2-0 before I came back - Mike Brewer and Dean Blake, so this was not an easy win."
