JIM WIDMAYER is the third American qualifier for the World Series of Darts, after winning Saturday's New Jersey knockout event.
The 36-year-old from Staten Island won 4-1 against Jerry Van Loan in Fairfield to book his place alongside Isen Veljic and Roger Carter in the field at the Mohegan Sun Casino in May.
A total of 115 players entered the event, including World Championship qualifiers Darin Young and John Kuczynski.
However, it was Widmayer who remains in with a chance of winning $1 million after coming from a leg down in the final to record his place in the main event.
"I came in confident and I just knew that if I could get past Darin and John I could get in," said Widmayer, who played in the 1994 World Matchplay.
"Don't count me out in Connecticut! I've played in front of the crowd before, although I haven't played in front of that many people in a long time."
