The Road To Vegas! The 2005 Las
Vegas Desert Classic IV is set for June 27 through July 3 and a 3 year deal has been reached with the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino to host this great event into the future. The PDC introduced Wild Cards to
the 2004 Las Vegas Desert Classic, which generated tremendous interest among players all across North America.
In the US last year, 3 American Wild Cards were determined using the BEN Pro
Ranking System for the Men’s Singles 501 at 10 tournaments held in the US between January 1 and April 25, 2004.
The top three American men point earners, who had not already received invites, received invitations to play in the Las Vegas Desert Classic III as one of the 32 finalists. Darin Young, Ricky Villanueva and Bruce Cottrell earned the three Wild Card positions.
With the excitement and success of the 2004 Wild Card program in the US, the
PDC Board of Directors has decided to continue the program with the 2005 Las Vegas Desert Classic IV and expand the number of tournaments that players
can earn BEN Pro Ranking Points at for the 3 American Wild Card spots to 20 tournaments. Now, the Wild Card program for 2005 includes tournaments in late summer and the fall dart seasons giving those tournaments added attraction.
