The deadline for online registration for the US Open “Friday Night Madness” qualifier event
has been extended to Thursday, May 17, 2007 at 10:00 PM EST. Registrations for the qualifier may be processed here on our web site using Visa or MasterCard
until that time.
Additionally: Contrary to prior notices, for a brief period on the day of the event (Friday,
May 18, 2007) FNM registrations will also be accepted onsite at the Mohegan Sun venue between the hours of 12:00 PM (Noon) and 4:00 PM. The precise location of
the onsite registration table has not yet been determined, however, it will be located somewhere outside, or very near, the ballroom location of the FNM event,
itself. Please note: The onsite registration will close promptly at 4:00 PM —no exceptions!
(Read: If you arrive at 4:01 PM you will not be permitted to register or participate in the FNM qualifier event.)
“Through May 14, 2007, just over 70 players have officially pre-registered for the ‘Friday
Night Madness’ event. Since 16 players will progress to the main draw on Saturday from this qualifier, the odds here are very good for those that play,” Jay
Tomlinson, the official event registrar, said. “Basically that means one player out of every five will move into the main draw. Where else could an aspiring
darter have that kind of chance to compete on the world stage —and for this kind of money?”
The “Friday Night Madness” event, itself, will begin promptly at 7:00 PM and will end at
10:00 PM, at which time qualification ties will be played off, if necessary.
The format of the qualifier will essentially be a mirror image of the FNM qualifier
conducted at last year’s World Series of Darts event, with all participants attempting to post their best possible 501 finish (fewest number of darts) during
the allotted time. If you weren’t lucky enough to have participated in this historic event last year and would like to learn more about the general format for
“Friday Night Madness” click here to view the
original press release detailing the WSOD FNM event, as hosted last year. (Please note: This link is included for reference purposes only, as it pertains
to the format of the FNM event —board assignments, rules, format, etc... Particulars, such as dates, registration caps, citizenship and so on... do not
necessarily apply to this year’s US Open FNM event.)
Spectator tickets for the US Open are also still available and cost $25 for
Saturday - including the televised World Darts Challenge, which is scheduled to be played from 9:00 to 11:00 PM on Saturday night (with delayed
broadcast on Fox Sports from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM that night) - and $50 for Sunday and can be purchased here |
