The AMOA National Dart Association membership met on July 17, 2004 in Rapid City, South Dakota in
conjunction with the association’s Dart Summit. During the annual members’ meeting, the NDA membership elected Joe Abraham and Britt Bruner to the Board of Directors.
Joe Abraham is the assistant general manager for Joe Abraham & Sons Amusement in
Peoria, Illinois. He has been in the coin-op business for 40 years and in the dart business for 26 years. Other coin-op association involvement includes: Working
with the Illinois Coin Machine Operators Association from its inception. Joe also helped form the Illinois Team Dart and Pool Tournament. In addition, he was a
leader in this tournament joining the NDA’s Tournament Incentive Program (TIP). Joe Abraham & Sons Amusement is a member of the AMOA, NDA and VNEA.
Abraham’s civic and community involvement includes his work with several
fraternal organizations and active participation in his children’s athletic and music activities. Joe sees as the top three challenges facing the industry today as: Manufacturers, distributors and operators being on the same page; Tavern locations shrinking due to expenses, regulations and new laws; and the need for operators to be promoters.
“I have grown up in the coin-op business and my responsibilities have varied
throughout the years,” says Abraham. “With the direction the industry is heading, the NDA is an important part of our industry and I want to be a part of it. I also look forward to learning and exchanging ideas with other operators around the country.”
Britt Bruner is the Dart League Coordinator for D & E Music & Vending,
Inc. in Mitchell, South Dakota. In addition, Bruner has been the President/CEO of the South Dakota Pool & Dart Tournament Corp since it’s inception in 1993. He has been in both the coin-op business and electronic dart business for 14 years, and has served as the tournament director for the South Dakota State Dart Tournament since 1992. The annual tournament has grown from 160 teams to over 750 teams participating.
Bruner’s civic and community involvement includes his service on the Board of the
South Dakota Make-a-Wish Foundation, membership in the Mitchell Exchange Club, and he serves at the President of the New Home Lutheran Church Council in Mitchell. Bruner sees as the top three challenges facing the industry today as: declining player base; declining revenue in dartboards: and rebuilding interest in the sport of darts.
“I enjoy the industry- it’s an important part of our business and it’s time for me to
give something back to the NDA,” says Bruner. “The NDA has served me well throughout the years and it’s my turn to return the favor.”
Other members of the Board include: President Kenny Price, Welch Music, Parkersburg,
WV; Vice President Reggie Horak, Automatic Amusements, Waterloo, Iowa; Treasurer Larry McEntire, Bullhead Billiard & Darts, Bullhead City, Ariz.; Terry O’Hara,
