Record Attendance!
On Thursday, May 27, 2004,
players were welcomed to the O’Hare Hyatt for the BullShooter XIX World Championships with a record attendance. Registration for this year’s events were at a record high; a good trend for our sport. Arachnid welcomed all players!
This year’s championship also has a few new activities for players, providing many
additional opportunities to win both cash and prizes. For those eliminated in the early rounds of the three Top Gun World Championship events Friday evening, four
new draw events have also been scheduled. That’s four more chances to win!
The Top Gun World Championship events are those that offer the most bragging
rights, as the matches are all single elimination. Once you’ve lost, you’re out and you cannot become the Top Gun until next year. Top Gun winners took home a cool $2,000, making this prestigious event one of the most coveted (and profitable) titles at the BullShooter World Championship.
International Flavor
A new twist to the
International match this year was that there were teams of 4 men only, no women. This change was made to allow women to compete in the Women’s Singles event, which takes place while the International match is going on. Prior to this year, women competing on their International Team could not compete in the Women’s singles. Teams from Croatia, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Japan, China, Australia, and the USA were tentatively signed up before arriving. If England had enough players, they too could compete in the International event at the BullShooter XIX.
Hot Button Players had the opportunity to enter a drawing to win a Galaxy II full size Arachnid
electronic machine simply by purchasing and using a Hot Button. The Hot Button can be used to store credits to use during play, eliminating the need to run for quarters before every match. The Hot Button can also be used to personalize every match with your name. The Hot Button costs $10 and your name went in the drawing for the Galaxy II dart machine to be given away on Monday. Players did not have to be present to win.
BS Golf The new Arachnid BS Golf game was in play all weekend.
There were significant cash prizes for the low score for 18 holes and everyone giving it a try received a new BullShooter golf ball. Really!
Double Vision Darts
If you’re into
double-the-pleasure and double-the-fun, and you can’t see anyway, you would dig Double Vision Darts. Wearing the Double Vision glasses and throwing three darts through one dart head into a second dart head for score. Any score over 89 won a prize and a score of over 139 won a large prize. Players could win up to two prizes per day, with each play costing only $2.00.
Lucky Duck Darts
A staple at the Arachnid
BullShooter World Championships is the Luck Duck Darts! Here’s an easy contest for everyone to try. Pick a duck out of the pond, then hit the number shown on the bottom of the duck using all three darts and you win your choice of available prizes. Players could win up to 2 prizes per day and one play was only $2.00.
Chuck-a-luck Darts
Another staple at the championships is Chuck-a-Luck where players throw at a spinning
dartboard and if they hit a 180 they could win a Galaxy II dart machine.
A score of 151 or better won a home electronic game. A score of 101 points or more won a large prize and any score of 81 to 100 won a small prize. The cost to try was just $2.00 a play for 3 darts.
All of these extra opportunities at the BullShooter World Championships makes this
tournament a fun event for all attending. Arachnid provides a true world class tournament and a holiday atmosphere at the same time.
USA Retains World Title INTERNATIONAL
2004 BULLSHOOTER WORLD CUP CHALLENGE
Eight Nations entered the International BullShooter World Cup this year,
including: Croatia, Germany, Holland, Japan, Mexico, Portugal, Spain and the USA. Each country wore their national shirts so all could tell what team they belonged to.
During the opening ceremony each team entered the hall in a parade of flags. The crowd
cheered each of them as they stepped on stage to receive their competition BullShooter International Cup Medal.
What a sight and what a feeling! For these players, it was the Olympics of darts!
Different from previous years, the teams were comprised of 4 men and no women.
This change allowed the women to compete in the Women's Singles which took place at the same time as the International match.
The teams were drawn into two competitive brackets where round robin play commenced.
Winners advanced according to the rules and competed in a final, single-elimination bracket to determine which team would become the BullShooter International World Champions. Last year the USA team won the 2003 title, beating Spain in the final. This year, the USA team faced Holland in the final round, taking the...
