2010 North American PDC Unicorn Women's World Championship Qualifiers

PDC CANADIAN & US UNICORN WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFIERS

The PDC’s official darts equipment provider, Unicorn, will sponsor the 2010 Unicorn Women's World Championship. This competition is open and available to any female over 18 years of age. Qualifiers from Riley’s Dartzones (UK) and International associates will comprise the field of 32 players in the event which will be played at Barnsley Metrodome on June 12, 2010 down to the final two. The finalists will compete for the title live on Sky Sports at the Winter Gardens before the final of the World Matchplay.

There will be one qualifier for a Canadian player and one qualifier for a US player. Due to the urgency of the deadline, the Canadian qualifier (open to Canadian women residents) will be played in conjunction with the Le Skratch Sarantos Retsinas Memorial Dart Tournement, on Saturday, May 8th at 7:30 PM at the Hellenic Community of Montreal South Shore Region, 5220 Grande Allée, Saint Hubert, Quebec.

The US qualifier (open to US women residents) will be held in conjunction with the Cleveland Extravaganza, Saturday, May 1st at 6:00 PM at the Cleveland Airport Marriott, 4277 West 150th Street, Cleveland, OH.

The entry fee for each qualifier will be $20 Canadian or US (enter on the day), respectively, and all entry fees collected for each qualifier will be awarded to help defray the airfare expense to the women who will represent their country in the PDC Unicorn Women’s World Championship.

Canadian and US qualifying for future PDC Unicorn Women’s World Championships will be coordinated through the National Darts Federation of Canada (NDFC) and the American Darts Organization (ADO) to provide the best opportunity for all women players of each country to qualify. Due to the urgency of the qualifying deadline for 2010, the above arrangements have been arranged for 2010.

A total of £30,000 in prize money will be paid to the Unicorn Women's World Championship participants as follows:

Champion:                  £10,000

Finalist:                       £  5,000

Semi-finalists:             £  2,500 each

Quarter-finalists:         £  1,250 each

Last 16:                      £     625 each

Additionally, the two finalists will also be invited to become PDC ProTour card holders for 2011 and 2012 and would receive sponsorship from Rileys Dartzones, the PDC’s staging partners in this event. The Women’s World Championship finalists will be invited to compete in the Grand Slam of Darts in November 2010.
